IFC4 has been finalized, and it is officially released

After over 6 years of development and over 1100 issues being resolved, on 12. March 2013 buildingSMART international has finally released the new generation of IFC schemas - IFC4. It will now be the basis of future work of establishing new open BIM enabled work flows by defining new IFC4 based model view definitions. The official IFC4 release includes both the IFC4 EXPRESS schema to support current STEP-based IFC exchanges, and the ifcXML4 XSD schema to support new simple ifcXML transactions.

EcoDomus, is releasing a free version of its EcoDomus PM online software application called EcoDomus COBie Basic, which will help design and construction teams simplify the COBie deliverable process.
The EcoDomus COBie Basic software functionality enables:
• Data export from Autodesk Revit to a secure online database
• Online data entry and editing for all COBie entities (“worksheets”)
• Uploading and attaching documents to BIM objects
• Import and export of COBie Excel files

BIM research will benefit energy and mining industries

A new international research centre aimed at improving the productivity of energy, minerals, infrastructure and construction projects was recently launched at Curtin University.

Woodside Energy supported Curtin in hosting the delegation by organising a field trip to the remote Pluto LNG plant 1,800 km north of Perth for the visiting delegation, Curtin representatives, and the general consul of China in Perth.
